Declaration of High Treason ?
I Ryan Heitner a South African by birth and up bringing. Have decided on this day 17th of April 2007 to support Kevin Pieterson the world's number one batsman.
I will support KP even if it means that South Africa lose and are booted out the world cup.
I will support them even if and especially if it means that the despicable England team triumph.
For the first time I turn my back on my country of birth on the sporting field.
Why ?
The country and its people deserve to be punished for the racist policies of Affirmative Action and the quota system in all it names and forms.
It is not relevant whether Kevin Pieterson suffered as a result of these policies. It is relevant that arrogant as he is, and as all great sportsmen have to be, he thought he suffered.
Every black / woman / homosexual given a position however worthy will be looked on by others or even by themselves as someone who secured the position on the basis of their colour, sex, sexual orientation. The seeds of doubt that the racist policy of affirmative action sows in the mind of all the people of South Africa, sprout into hate, and self doubt.
I always opposed a race based system, I always wanted a system based on merit.
The people once classified as White, Coloured, Asian by the apartheid regime are still classified as such.
Institutionalised racism is alive and well in South Africa it has just changed names and been removed from the worlds' agenda.
In around 1991 I attended a lecture by ANC activist Gill Marrcus. At the time it was apparent that the ANC was on its way into power. Marcusl outlined the proposed policy on Affirmitive action. At question time I said if this will be the policy of the Govt. I will leave the country and expect a lot of other talented individuals to do likewise. Mz Marcus said that was the policy and did no discuss it further.
I do not think South Africa has noticed my departure. I want them to notice that of KP.
It is ironic that back in the early nineties shouts of KP were seen as the big threat to the ANC and there were thoughts of a possible civil war. Back then KP referred to the ultra nationalistic white Afrikaaner Konservative Party. Today the shouts of KP are for Kevin Pieterson from the English and Bitter Ex south African cricket fans.
I still still support South Africa, but not against my hero KP.
